Dead body of a young girl found near her car. The key evidence included a syringe, a hair sample in her hand, and bluish-black discoloration on her neck. This was a mock crime scene activity that was conducted during a workshop organized by the Department of Forensic Science at Sandip University, Nashik. The participating team beautifully solved the mystery and presented their findings during discussion. As per their findings, toxicological tests confirmed she had been injected with Botulinum plant poison. And also, the suspect's DNA was found in her hair sample, which further supported the theory that the suspect attacked the victim from behind, injected her with poison, and covered her mouth. Despite her struggle, the victim succumbed to her injuries. The activity highlighted the crucial role forensics play in resolving such crimes. [19.09.2024]
