Dr. Muhammad Nasir Ahmad

Dr. Muhammad Nasir Ahmad is an Associate Professor in Forensic Anthropology and the In-charge of the Forensic Anthropology Unit at the Forensic Medicine Department, Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore. With a distinguished career, he previously served as Scientist C at the Tata National Institute of Nutrition, Hyderabad, under the Indian Council of Medical Research, and as a Fellow at the National Innovation Foundation-India, Department of Science and Technology. He also worked with the School of Good Governance, Government of Madhya Pradesh. In 2023, he became the first Indian to receive the HHRRC Grant from the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. His unit at Yenepoya University recently established India’s first Taphonomy Centre. He is an active member of several esteemed professional organizations, including the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the British Association of Forensic Anthropology, among others. He is a respected resource person, chairperson, and speaker at numerous national academic institutions, having organized workshops and training programs on topics such as Forensic Anthropology, Exhumation in medico-legal investigations, and Ethics of the Dead.
