Prof. (Dr.) Nuzhat Parveen Khan

Prof. (Dr.) Nuzhat Parveen Khan is the Professor and former Dean, at Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. She joined the Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia in 1992. Prof. Khan has also been Former Dean at School of Law, Bennett University, The Times of India Group Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. She is the Member of Advisory Board of India International University of Legal Education and Research (IIULER) Goa, 1st International University of legal education, established by Bar Council of India Trust. Her Ph.D. on the topic ‘Legal Control of Air Pollution; Problems and Perspectives', was awarded publication grant by the Indian Council of Social Science Research, Ministry of HRD. It was published as a book accordingly. She has worked on the project for National Commission for Women , titled, ‘A Study of Discriminative and Derogatory Practices against Women by Khap Panchayats, Kangaroo Courts and Shalishi Adalats in India: An Empirical Study in the States of Haryana, Rajasthan, Western U.P. and West Bengal’. The project report was also presented before the Parliament of India in 2014 and was highly appreciated by one and all. The NCW sponsored project on ‘Standardized Module for Legal Awareness Programme about Women Related Laws’, prepared with the aim to empower women and girls with the knowledge of laws related to women, legal rights and duties, to enable them, to share power equally, gain full access to the means of development, and to inspire a whole generation of women to work together towards achieving equality and justice.
