Dr. Madhusudan Reddy Nandineni is a distinguished scientist with over two decades of experience in forensic genetics, DNA profiling, and molecular genetics. As a Staff Scientist and Group Head at the Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics (CDFD) in India, Dr. Nandineni spearheads innovative research in forensic science, human identification, and advanced genomic technologies. He directs the generation and reporting of forensic DNA investigative insights, drawing on his extensive expertise and exceptional leadership to advance the field. Dr. Nandineni has managed thousands of forensic DNA profiling cases, including high-profile investigations such as the Godhra riots, the Mangalore Air India Express crash, the Uttarakhand floods, and several national security and public safety cases. His innovative work on DNA extraction techniques and SNP-based panels for degraded samples has greatly improved forensic DNA profiling, ensuring greater accuracy and efficiency in delivering justice. Beyond his scientific accomplishments, Dr. Nandineni has significantly advanced international collaboration. During his tenure as a Science Counsellor at the Embassy of India in Germany, he facilitated strategic partnerships in various areas of science and technology and higher education. He was pivotal in shaping agreements that strengthened bilateral ties and India’s global scientific leadership.
A dedicated mentor and leader, Dr. Nandineni has guided numerous Ph.D. and Master’s students, fostering the next generation of scientists. His expertise has also influenced policy, including contributions to India’s forensic DNA Profiling Bill and disaster management frameworks. Dr. Nandineni’s outstanding contributions have earned him several prestigious accolades, including the Telangana State Government’s Best Scientist Award, the BioAsia Innovation Award, the Indo-US Science Research Fellowship, and the Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award. He has also been recognized as a Max Planck India Visiting Scientist, Head of the Max Planck Partner Group Programme, and Member of the Board of Trustees at the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research. With his expertise, leadership, and innovative approach, Dr. Nandineni continues to drive advancements in forensic science, foster international collaboration, and build scientific capacity, leaving a lasting impact on Indian and global scientific communities.
