During the internship, you'll learn techniques for authenticating documents such as watermark analysis, ink and paper analysis, handwriting verification, and digital forensic methods to detect alterations or forgeries.

The minimum eligibility is that you should be an undergraduate in forensic science, criminology, or a related field. Prior coursework in document examination or experience in a lab setting though not mandatory but is often preferred.

You’ll work with both real and simulated documents, which will depend on your internship duration. Working with real documents will help you understand practical challenges, while copied documents will be used for training on specific techniques without legal constraints.

Forged or altered documents are detected using methods like examining inconsistencies in handwriting, ink, and paper composition, as well as using UV Chamber to identify digital alterations or anomalies.

Tools and software include magnifiers, microscopes, and Adobe Photoshop for digital examination with detecting alterations in digital documents.

A internship lasts 7 Days to 3 Months, combining theoretical learning with hands-on lab work. You’ll progress from basic document handling to more complex tasks like identifying and analyzing subtle signs of forgery.

This internship can lead to certification in document examination, enhancing your credentials. It also offers opportunities for career advancement in forensic document analysis or related fields within law enforcement or private investigation.

Evidence from authenticated documents is preserved by maintaining a secure chain of custody, documenting the analysis process thoroughly, and preparing detailed reports. This ensures that the evidence is admissible in court and properly presented.

Typically analyzed documents include contracts, legal papers, wills, financial documents, and identification papers. These documents are scrutinized for authenticity and any signs of tampering or forgery.

Ethical considerations in document authentication during an internship include ensuring the accuracy and honesty of the verification process, protecting sensitive information, and avoiding any form of forgery or misrepresentation. Individuals' privacy rights and follow legal and institutional guidelines. Maintaining integrity and transparency in all actions is essential.
